In 2021,four years after the so-called “Europe’s Year of Elections” in 2017,a number of European countries including Germany, the Netherlands,Norway and several CEECs held parliamentary elections. The results of these elections tell us that the European politics is still trapped in the shadow of a post-pandemic and post-crisis era. Especially under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic,“adjustment”,“instability” and “fragmentation” are still the key words that define the political landscape of Europe in 2021-2022. In the field of party politics,a new-round adjustment has emerged as to the balance of power between the center-left and center-rights parties. In addition, green politics has resurged in Europe, which has,in some degree, shaped the government formation in some countries. At last, despite the declining support of the populist parties as a whole, they are still exerting significant influences on European politics. The changes within the European countries will inevitable spill over to the EU level. Despite progresses achieved in some areas of the European integration, the EU is still confronted with deep-going challenges.
