As a key project of key countries of the Belt and Road Initiative，the Colombo Port City Project in Sri Lanka attaches great importance to green environmental protection and actively practices green development philosophy during the development and construction process. In the overall project planning，the philosophy of sustainable development planning of “respecting the local area，optimizing the environment，reducing pollution and saving resources” is continuously implemented. During the construction process，green environmental protects such as water exchange，sediment movement and water eco-environmental protection is the key concern. In the whole project，the social and economic benefits are considered：it lays the brand foundation of the Colombo Port City by green project planning；it optimizes and saves construction materials and protecting the local natural environment；it ensures the high-quality completion of the first phase of the project by many technological innovations；it accurately assists the main affected groups and continuously improves the people-benefiting image of the project.
