County-level cities have a key position and an important role in the regional composition of the provincial national economy. This paper analyzes and summarizes the pattern and advantages，problems and shortcomings，phenomena and rules of county-level cities in Jilin Province，In 2020，the competitiveness of county-level cities in Jilin Province has been continuously improved. The comprehensive economic competitiveness of county-level cities in the central region is relatively leading，the eastern region is polarized，and the western region is generally in the middle level；The overall level of sustainable competitiveness of counties is higher in the eastern region，stronger in the central region and weaker in the western region. The problems and shortcomings of the competitiveness development of county-level cities in the province are universal. Facing the general law and trend of the development of county-level cities，it is necessary to continuously improve the competitiveness of county-level city in the province by establishing an industrial system for county-level city development，cultivating county-level citiy innovation ability，introducing digital economy，strengthening green ecology and low carbon and other measures.
