In 2021，the relationship between China and the Pacific island countries has steadily progressed，exchanges and cooperation in various fields have continued，and ushered in the 45 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Papua New Guinea. The successful holding of the Pacific Island Countries-China Political Leadership Dialogue and High-level Video Conference on Belt and Road International Cooperation has strengthened the interaction between countries and regions，and greatly promoted the economy and trade between the two sides and people to people exchanges. China’s assistance to Pacific island countries in medical supplies，education，environment and finance，including COVID-19 vaccines，has provided important support for improving people’s livelihood，stimulating local economic development and addressing climate issues. The initial establishment of the foreign ministers’ communication mechanism and the continuous emergence of the meeting points of the national strategies of the two sides have promoted the development of the Pacific island countries. In the future，China will continue to follow the principle of equality and mutual benefit，expand its interaction with Pacific island countries and further deepen its relations with Pacific island countries.
