PICs have remained generally stable in 2021. There have been political turbulence in individual countries. The Federated States of Micronesia，Samoa and Tonga had successively held leadership elections and successfully completed the change of government. However，the political situation in Samoa，Vanuatu and Solomon Islands is unstable. Regional hotspot issues remain prominent. The consultation on the independence process in Bougainville，Papua New Guinea，has attracted attention. New Caledonia remained in France after the third independence referendum. At the same time，the Pacific Islands Forum has experienced a secession crisis and political differences have gradually deepened.
