As the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt put the restoration of the ecological environment of the Yangtze River in an overwhelming position and promote a comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development，a turning point has taken place in the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. During 2021 and 2022，the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt have firstly actively respond to climate change and accelerate the realization of the dual-carbon development goals，secondly strengthen ecological environment governance and fight the tough battle of pollution prevention and control，once again solidly promote ecological construction and strengthen ecosystem protection and restoration，and finally strengthen ecological Environmental protection supervision and modernization of environmental governance capabilities have been carried out. Furthermore，the environmental quality of the Yangtze River has continued to improve，the ecological protection and restoration effects of the Yangtze River have gradually emerged，and the resource utilization efficiency has been steadily improved. By evaluating the ecological green development level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt，we found that the inter-regional gap in the comprehensive level of green development among the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt continues to narrow，and the green development level of the central region has improved significantly whose ranking have surpassed that of the eastern region. Among them，the eastern region has obvious advantages in green production，while the central and western regions have advantages in green life and green ecology respectively. In the future，the Yangtze River Economic Belt should take water environment management as the breakthrough point of environmental protection in the Yangtze River Economic Belt，lead the circular economy development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt with the construction of waste-free cities，and promote the Yangtze River Economic Belt to realize the double-carbon goal as soon as possible with the transformation of low-carbon and energy-saving.
