早在20世纪90年代,我国就开展了空间诱变科学实验研究,并验证了空间辐射环境对植物种子的遗传诱变效应,通过分子标记等分子生物学技术手段量化了植物基因组水平上的突变频率,也通过表型观察等测算了不同的农艺性状的变异频率。进入21世纪,我国专门发射了完全用于农业领域的“实践八号”育种卫星,部署了7台空间环境探测实验设备,用于空间诱变机理的研究,利用实验数据支撑了空间诱变科学假设,为后续航天育种实验的科学设计提供了依据。分子遗传学和基因组学的发展推动了相关的技术进步,使得我们对航天育种空间诱变的机理和机制有了更为深刻的认识,基因突变从基因组学拓展延伸到表观遗传学等更为广泛的研究领域。对诱变、突变机理的研究,促进和加强了对航天育种的技术应用:准确地捕捉到突变,在后代群体中实现快速鉴定和筛选,减少育种过程中的盲目性,增加精准性,提高育种效率。
