With the full integration of new technologies，new concepts and new models into all fields and the whole process of construction such as economy，society and culture，and even the challenges brought by public health emergencies such as COVID-19，the development of the central areas of international metropolises has brought broad and profound impact. Based on the report of Calgary’s Greater Downtown Plan：Roadmap to reinvention，this paper highlights the vision and strategic actions to create a resilient and vibrant city center in Calgary，Canada. Then，it proposes three inspirations for the development of urban centers in Chinese metropolises：accelerating the construction of resilient cities to address climate change and public health challenges，promoting innovative function-oriented urban renewal in response to the functional iteration of urban centers，and promoting the improvement of public space and the regeneration of idle space.
