Haizhu District is the central city of Guangzhou，with a privileged area，a good tourism base，a high degree of tourism product development，and a rapidly growing tourism industry. This report summarises the good practices of sustainable urban tourism development in Haizhu District in four dimensions：cultural heritage protection and utilization，urban environment improvement，industrial development，and urban competitiveness enhancement. At the same time，Haizhu District has problems such as uneven distribution of tourism resources，unexceptional brand image，deficiencies in the management system，and insufficient marketization. In response to the existing problems of Haizhu District，this report proposes improvements in four aspects：first，co-ordinating regional planning and highlighting the unique environmental advantages of the central city；second，exploring the connotation of resources and shaping the brand image of tourism；third，integrating cross-border development and introducing high-quality actors；fourth，improving the management system and promoting sustainable tourism development.
