In 2021,cross-border e-commerce in China and Beijing has achieved continuous and rapid growth. This report first analyzes the development background and external environment of cross-border e-commerce in 2021 and summarizes the development status and characteristics of Beijing’s cross-border e-commerce. Specifically,B2C enterprises account for nearly 80% of cross-border e-commerce in Beijing, and the import volume of cross-border e-commerce trade is far greater than the export volume. This report then further analyzes the drivers and challenges of developing Beijing’s cross-border e-commerce,among which policy support, industrial infrastructure, consumption upgrading, science and technology innovation, and the COVID-19 epidemic situation are some of the most important factors. Meanwhile,cross-border e-commerce in Beijing is still facing external challenges, including complex international situations, legal compliance risks, and a lack of professional talents. Based on several typical enterprise cases, this report proposes that during the COVID-19 epidemic, the future development of Beijing’s cross-border e-commerce should focus on building an industrial ecology. It should also fully utilize local resource endowment, cooperate to construct global logistics networks, and build proper talent echelons, thereby promoting the steady growth of Beijing’s imports and exports, and accelerating the return of key cross-border business.
