This report takes the Chinese listed companies in 2021 as the analysis object. On the basis of introducing the general situation of overseas investment，we make a quantitative analysis of overseas investment enterprises from six dimensions including investment region，investment field，investment mode，regional distribution，company industry and ownership structure. Analysis shows that the total amount of overseas investment continues to shrink in 2021. The main investment modes are independent investment，capital increase and M&A. The investment areasare mainly developed countries；the investment fields tend to be diversifiedand focus on the investment field tends to be diversified and mainly focuses on the metal，chemical and pharmaceutical industries；the regional distribution is not balanced，which is characterized by “more in the east and less in the west”；investment enterprises mainly come from manufacturing industry；private enterprises are the main types of investment enterprises. Combined with the analysis of typical enterprise cases，this report argue that，in order to promote the high-quality development of overseas investment，Chinese enterprises should make full use of the existing bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms to “going out”，guided by the strategic needs of enterprises and the government’s foreign investment policies，and based on the international core competitiveness，they must strive to create new highlights of overseas investment layout and promote the formation of a new pattern of international cooperation.
