Urban river management plays a very active role in urban construction. In recent years，Beijing has stepped up efforts to control urban rivers and achieved significant results. River harnessing is a systematic project that needs to be adhered to for a long time. River harnessing in Beijing has a long way to go. The research shows that the characteristics of Beijing’s river development are：continuous drought for many years and insufficient water resources；River pollution still exists；The water system pattern has changed. Based on the analysis results，we propose to promote the healthy development of Beijing’s rivers from the following aspects：first，optimize the management and allocation of water resources，second，implement ecological river management，third，gradually develop water system connectivity，and fourth，implement the long-term management mechanism of the “river leader system”.
