The COVID-19 pandemic has taken heavy toll on people’s life and property around the world. Among the different pandemic prevention and control strategies adopted by various countries，the Chinese government has always adhered to the principle of “people first and life first”. The use of digital technology helps achieve targeted measures in epidemic prevention and control and avoid the large-scale spread of the pandemic and the loss of life. Digital technology is also applied to virus gene sequencing，drug research and development，pandemic tracing，material security and supply，resumption of production and work，learning and assistance for the elderly，which not only mirrors the application value of digital technology，but also shows the humanistic care of digital technology to the greatest extent. The development models such as accurate pandemic prevention，material supply and online economy supported by digital technology have also shed light on technological innovation，improvement of infrastructure and governance. Based on Alibaba’s innovative practice in pandemic control by using space-based big data，artificial intelligence，low code development，QR code and other technologies，this paper shows the great potential of digital technology in pandemic control. Meanwhile，this paper also puts forward corresponding policy recommendations on the problems highlighted in the digital pandemic control，such as multiple information collection，lack of digital capacity at the grass-roots level，and difficulty to form a joint force between protection and supply.
