Zhuhai has shown a momentum of rapid growth in recent years in terms of total economic aggregate，population，and cultivation of new momentum for development. Nevertheless，while it continues to pursue sustainable development，Zhuhai is restricted by its previous “small yet beautiful” growth path，and thus the economic aggregate hinders its role in promoting the economic development of the west bank of the Pearl River. In order to seize a host of major opportunities such as the completion and opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and China’s accelerated construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area，the basic driving force for Zhuhai’s future sustainable development stems from integrating the city’s internal development space through transportation facilities. It is also closely related to its continued alignment with Hong Kong，Macao and Shenzhen through multiple channels. In this process，the construction of transportation and hub is the prerequisite to expand its urban framework and enlarge its economic aggregate. To further optimize the pattern of urban sustainable development，the idea of Zhuhai’s overall planning in recent years is to build a broader urban framework through “promoting the south，expanding the west，aligning the north，and optimizing the east”，in a bid to realize the optimization and integration with all sorts of resources. In the process of expanding “hard infrastructure” and aligning “soft rules”，expediting the creation of a talent-friendly，youth-friendly，environment-friendly，and culturally inclusive development environment will be the preconditions for Zhuhai’s future sustainable development.
