The comprehensive involvement of the Internet in the socialization process of young people is drawing increasing attention from the general public. The mainstream media is responsible for guiding public opinion and gathering social consensus，and this study analyzed the content of the commentary articles published by the WeChat public number of the People’s Daily Review. The study found that the current news commentary production is characterized by a lack of youth discourse，a “risk shift” in the perception of the online environment，a biased evaluation of online literacy，and a “protectionism” in online literacy education，which may prevent youth from obtaining development opportunities from the online survival. This study therefore calls for journalistic commentary to be more effective. Therefore，this study calls for journalistic commentaries to enhance “youth-oriented awareness，” advocate comprehensive development of online literacy，jump out of the “trap” of protectionism，and stimulate the potential of public opinion guidance at the levels of “knowing by heart” and “practicing by doing”. The potential of public opinion guidance at the level of “knowing” and “practicing” should be stimulated.
