2020 was the final year of the term of the 12th Central Committee of the CPV and a crucial year for completing the preparation for the 13th CPV National Congress. Under the strong leadership of the CPV Central Committee and Nguyen Phu Trong，General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and President of Vietnam，Vietnam has been successful in fighting COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining political stability and a sound momentum of economic and social development，making it one of the very few countries in the world that has achieved positive economic growth. In 2020 to January 2021，the CPV convened in succession the 12th，13th，14th，and 15th plenary sessions of its 12th Central Committee，and advanced the preparation for the 13th CPV National Congress to guild Vietnam’s future political，economic and social development. In the course of preparing for the 13th CPV National Congress，the draft documents of the 13th CPV National Congress has been repeatedly revised，and opinions and suggestions extensively solicitated from all parties and people，which became one of the highlights in Vietnamese politics. The top official personnel preparation for the 13th CPV National Congress had been advanced steadily. Local party congresses at all levels had been convened and completed in accordance with the deployment of the CPV Central Committee. The 14th National Assembly of Vietnam held its 9th and 10th meetings to promote legislation，supervision and the construction of a country under the rule of law in Vietnam，and to prepare for the re-election of the 15th National Assembly in 2021. This year，the CPV will further strengthen its party building and ideological construction and advance the work of fighting against corruption to create a sound environment for the smooth holding of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
