2021 is the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and the year of the implementation of China’s newly amended Copyright Law，which has opened a new page for the protection of network music copyright in China. Since July 2015，the relevant departments have launched a special rectification action for network music copyright，and formulated and implemented a “three-step” approach to stop infringement，guide the standardization of authorization model，and promote the establishment of business model for digital music licensing and ecological optimization. In 2021，the newly amended Copyright Law was implemented，and the legal system applicable to network music copyright protection was further improved；the State Administration of Market Supervision issued an administrative penalty decision，ordering Tencent Holdings Limited and its affiliates to release exclusive music copyrights within 30 days. The “first anti-monopoly case in China’s online music copyright market” has far-reaching impact；the improvement of authorization model and commercial ecology continues to advance，and the network music genuine ecological system is gradually established. However，music copyright issues such as short video and online live broadcast are highlighted，and copyright law enforcement and supervision bright sword new formats and new fields. Analyzing the development trend of China’s network music copyright protection，the copyright authorization model needs to be further improved，and the good market ecology of network music copyright needs to continue to be created；the online copyright industry enters the “trillion era”，and network music copyright investment is promising；audio copyright protection technology further develops，and network music rights protection enters the era of technical defense.
