2020年，在新冠肺炎疫情的侵袭下，欧盟的对外关系保持了稳健扩张的姿态。在新一届欧盟领导人的领导下，欧盟一方面采取积极措施，有效地应对了疫情带来的外交挑战；另一方面，在欧美关系、英国脱欧和欧非关系上都迎来了新的转机，并总体维持了同俄罗斯的关系以及保持了周边地区的稳定。2020年是欧盟实践其“地缘政治”理念的第一年，也是欧盟对外关系富有成果的一年，其为未来数年欧盟对外关系的稳定发展打下了基础。
<<The EU experienced steady expansion in its external relations against the backdrop of COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Under the leadership of the new EU leaders，on the one hand，the EU took measures to effectively respond to the diplomatic challenges brought about by the pandemic；on the other hand，it witnessed new developments in its relationship with the US，UK and Africa，and maintained overall stability in neighborhood and its relationship with Russia. 2020 is the first year for the EU leaders to practice the “geopolitical” concept，and it is also a fruitful year for EU’s external relations，laying foundation for the stable development of EU’s external relations in the near future.
