The survival and future well-being of humans depends on the stability of the earth’s ecosystems. Global biodiversity has been declining in recent years，which poses a significant threat to humanity. The awareness about the urgency of the crisis and the importance of protecting biodiversity has been increasing. Biodiversity finance aims to support biodiversity protection through the coordinated use of financial resources. The development of biodiversity finance is crucial for addressing financial risks associated with biodiversity loss and closing the biodiversity financing gap. International research on biodiversity-related financial risks has achieved a breakthrough，concluding that biodiversity loss impacts financial stability. International cooperation and innovation in global biodiversity investment and financing mechanisms are booming. In recent years，biodiversity has also received unprecedented attention in China. Under the theme of ecological protection and combating climate change，more policies are being created to direct capital flows to biodiversity conservation. The development of biodiversity finance is well supported by China’s robust green finance framework. China has also participated in standard-setting and research related to global biodiversity finance，actively examined global biodiversity investment and financing systems，and proactively launched international initiatives and cooperation mechanisms in this field. However，biodiversity finance is still in its infancy，and faces multiple challenges. In the future，it will still be necessary to further improve standards，increase investment and financing，strengthen risk management of biodiversity-related risks，encourage experience sharing，and promote personnel development.
