The report summarises new developments in ecotourism at home and abroad，and provides a comprehensive evaluation of ecotourism region of National Ecotourism Development Plan（2016-2025）through the construction of the China ecotourism development index system and the China ecotourism green water and green mountain index system. The ecotourism regions have their own characteristics based on their respective advantageous resources，with the Eastern Plain and Hills Ecotourism Region，the Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River Ecotourism Region performing well in the China ecotourism development index system and the China ecotourism green water and green mountain index system. At present，China’s ecotourism still suffers from rough development，blind exploitation，serious homogenisation of products，imperfect management system，market and government regulation failure，etc. In response to the above problems，the report suggests that we should take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the rise of the ecotourism market，the booming development of digital technology and the rural revitalisation strategy，actively address the impact of the changing landscape in the post-epidemic era，strengthen regional synergistic development and promote ecotourism resources’ ecological value realisation and transformation The report also suggests that it is necessary to strengthen the reflection on the relationship between people and land，and to promote the digital transformation of ecological pollution management.
