The level of urban economic management is the reflection of the city government’s ability to achieve economic development goals，perform economic functions and continuously and effectively implement its policies. This report builds an evaluation index system of urban economic management level including four dimensions of economic development level，economic adjustment level，market supervision level and government basic financial strength level；it comprehensively evaluates and ranks the economic management level of 36 key cities. The results show that in 2019，the economic management level of China’s 36 key cities has an obvious gradient，and management ability has been steadily improved. The report proposes to update the concept of decision-making and planning，establish and improve the decision-making and planning mechanism and the accountability mechanism；establish a sound economic adjustment goal and improve the adjustment efficiency；reasonably grasp and define the boundaries of market supervision，and improve the government’s market supervision ability.
