To explore the development and trend of research in the field of digital citizen is of great significance to the current smart city construction and urban digital transformation. Using the methods of bibliometrics and knowledge mapping，based on the research literature in the field of digital citizen collected from web of science and CNKI，this paper makes a comprehensive review of the research development and current situation at home and abroad. The results show that：the research in the field of digital citizen continues to rise，among which the research in the United States and Spain is relatively active，surpassing other countries；the theoretical basis research in the field of digital citizen in China is relatively weak；the research hotspots and trends of digital citizenship，digital divide，digital citizen participation and digital social governance are proposed for discussion.
