In 2021，Xi’an successfully held the 14th National Games，which brought the city new development opportunities. Though it was challenged by epidemic at the end of the year，its economic output remained stable by trillions. From three aspects of investment，consumption，import and export，this paper studies how Xi’an makes use of its own advantages to resolve the triple pressures and promote rational and high-quality economic growth. Firstly，this paper analyzes the changes of investment，consumption，import and export in Xi’an，and finds that Xi’an has the advantages of high contribution to economic growth，innovation in foreign trade，and growth in both quantity and quality. At the same time，there are some shortcomings，such as high dependence on investment that grows slowly，low total retail sales of consumer goods and their proportion in the whole country，and relatively low dependence on foreign trade. Secondly，this paper summarizes that Xi’an promotes rational and high-quality economic growth by upgrading industrial structure，cultivating an international consumption center，and promoting the reform and innovation of free trade zone construction. Finally，this paper puts forward three suggestions to promote the rational and high-quality economic growth in Xi’an，such as building advantageous industrial clusters，realizing the leading role of manufacturing industry，taking advantage of science and education，expanding Xi’an’s leading effects，promoting productivity-oriented reform and optimizing resource allocation.
