This study analyzes the characteristics，influencing factors，and the consequences of minors Internet use motivation. The data of 21733 students aged 6-18 in 31 provinces in China comes from “Minors’ Digital Life and Protection Survey” in 2021. The results showed that the needs that minors meet when using the Internet are，in order，cognitive needs，entertainment needs，self-expression needs，and social needs. Minors who are boys，senior students，or students in rural areas，and minors who have poor relationship with parents and less parent-child interaction，and minors who are not fit the school are more likely to use the Internet as an important way to meet their needs. Different types of Internet use motives will lead to differences in the frequency of minors’ online behaviors.
