At present，China’s smarter city has entered the stage of comprehensive development. The huge capital investment and professional operation demand have posed a crucible to the traditional government-dominated and construction oriented smarter city development model. Building a value ecosystem with government-regulation，government-enterprise cooperation，multi-party participation and professional operation has become an inevitable choice for most of local government to improve the effectiveness and achieve sustainable development of smarter city. Based on the current situation of smarter city in China，this paper puts forward the concept and characteristics of long-term operation of smarter city，analyzes the main smarter city operation modes from the categories of operation object，operation subject and reward mechanism，and puts forward key measures to promote long-term operation of smarter city.
