According to the complexity of teachers’ professional development，the professional ability of secondary vocational school teachers is divided into three aspects：constrained professional ability，expanded professional ability and developed professional ability. Through the investigation of teachers’ professional ability is carried out for professional teachers in secondary vocational schools in Guangzhou，it is found that the professional ability of teachers in secondary vocational schools in Guangzhou is at a high level as a whole，but the practical guidance ability is slightly insufficient，the social service ability is relatively deficient，and the independent development ability is deviated. There is no significant difference in the professional ability of secondary vocational school teachers in “double-qualified” teachers and age，but there are significant differences in whether they have practical work experience or not. Secondary vocational school teachers’ self-career development satisfaction is average，which is positively correlated with their professional abilities. Therefore，it is suggested to strengthen the construction of teacher training system of school enterprise cooperation and improve the practical guidance ability of secondary vocational teachers；Improve the management and incentive mechanism of teachers’ social service，and enhance the social service ability of secondary vocational teachers；Increase the autonomy of teachers’ professional practice and stimulate the independent development ability of secondary vocational teachers；Strengthen the research on the qualification certification standards of secondary vocational teachers，and develop the municipal “double qualified” teacher standards.
