In order to understand the current situation of respecting and protecting children’s rights in primary and secondary schools in the east，middle and west of China’s mainland，this survey is designed based on the requirements of “inclusion and equality，effective teaching and learning，participation and harmony，safety and health” clarified by the Ministry of Education in the “Standards for Child-Friendly Schools”. The survey reveals some differences across the regions and points out various problems in protecting children’s rights. Furthermore，this paper puts forward several policy suggestions，such as improving school evaluation，protecting students’ physical and mental health，enhancing professional development of principals and teachers，and strengthening the cooperation among families，schools and communities.
