The Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has always placed the maintenance of people’s health in a very prominent position. Health，as the basic condition for economic development，is an important symbol of a country’s prosperity and is also the common pursuit of the broad masses of the people. After 2020，China’s residents’ health protection awareness has been greatly improved due to the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic. At the same time，the insurance service industry has received extensive attention，the income generated by insurance products has increased significantly，and the performance of commercial health insurance is particularly outstanding. Based on the analysis of the current development situation of China’s commercial health insurance industry，this report concludes that although China’s commercial health insurance industry has many advantages to develop，there are still some problems at this stage of development，such as unbalanced regional development，low degree of marketization，lack of international competitiveness，imperfect mechanism of participating in China’s medical insurance system and so on. By learning from the advanced development model of commercial health insurance Japan，this paper sums up the effective paths for China’s commercial health insurance industry to achieve high-quality development. The paths are achieving high international standards，opening to the outside world at a higher level，and promoting deeper reforms at home.
