In the era of rapid development of the Internet，the importance of authenticity and integrity of data is self-evident，especially in sophisticated systems and transaction systems that require extremely high data. Blockchain is well known for its decentralization and immutability，however，blockchain does not guarantee the accuracy of the data entered on the chain. The purpose of introducing blockchain is to collect and manage data in a way that is beneficial to the participants，so the data used must be accurate，reliable and timely. As a high-tech product at the same time as the blockchain，edge computing may be the answer to solving the “first mile” of the blockchain. Integrating the blockchain into each layer of the edge computing architecture，combined with cryptographic technologies such as encryption authentication，solves the problem of data source and makes it possible to ensure the security of the entire data link. This paper gives an overview of blockchain and edge computing technology，analyzes the key stages included in the first mile of blockchain and some current solutions，and gives the motivation requirements and basic architecture of blockchain integration of edge computing. Provide a reference for blockchain empowerment from the perspective of data integrity.
