Since the early 21st century，more and more foreigners choose to study，work，live and even settle down in China，which promotes the demand for the internationalization of city community construction and governance. Beijing，as the capital of China，is also at the forefront in this regard，becoming the first city unveiling a plan to build international communities in China，and gradually forming a diversified international community ecology with Beijing characteristics. By reviewing its origin and process，understanding its current situation，summarizing its patterns and thinking about its future development model in constructing and governing cosmopolitan communities，this paper aims to set Beijing as a typical example for the active participation of China’s metropolises in global governance.
