This article reviews the new missions brought to traditional media by the digital economy era through analyzing the following four aspects of the Personal Information Protection Center of Southern Metropolis Daily：its origin，development history，research results and its future development. Founded in 2017，the Personal Information Protection Center of Southern Metropolis Daily has experienced three main stages：the beginning stage during 2017 to 2018，the fast developing stage during 2018 to 2019 and the area spanning stage during 2019 to 2020. Since it’s establishment，the center has been focusing in personal information protection，the challenges from AI，anti-monopoly in internet and protection of teenagers by publishing relevant academic reports and news. Furthermore，the Southern Metropolis Daily will continue to promote its evaluation criteria，participate in social governance and build up its own user community.
