With the adjustment of the speed and mode of urban development in China，urban development has begun to shift from large-scale construction to the stock utilization and starts to promote urban development through renovation. The Liwan District of Guangzhou City has been committed to the renovation and transformation of the old city in recent years，promoting the old city to rejuvenate with new vitality，and has explored two different transformation modes with areas of Yong Qing Fang and Pantang five street as representations respectively. The two models differ in means and subjects but have both been successful. This report takes these two models as examples，summarizes ideas and experiences，and seeks to explore ways to promote high-quality regional development through urban renewal.
