At present，the development of the new energy vehicle industry is changing from the primary stage with electrification as the core to the middle and advanced stage with intelligence as the core，while industrial competition is also focusing on the fields of intelligence，connecting and digitalization. The intelligent electric vehicles equipped with relevant core technologies and products such as advanced electronic and electrical architecture，high computing power chips and in-vehicle operating systems are becoming a new height of industrial competition. This paper analyzes the technological progress，commercial implementation，policy support and financing enthusiasm of intelligent electric vehicles. This paper also points that the development level of intelligent electric vehicles in China is basically at the advanced level in the world，but it still faces a series of problems，such as insufficient safety and reliability，core components “bottleneck”，difficulties in the implementation of commercial models and need to improve policies and standards. It is recommended that the government introduces supporting policies to guide and encourage enterprises to invest in basic R & D and application R & D，promote the independent control of core components，improve laws and regulations，enhance the demonstration and popularization of intelligent electric vehicles and continuously improve China’s competitiveness in the field of intelligent electric vehicles.
