The international competitiveness index of China’s new energy vehicle industry has been released for nine consecutive years and has become an important indicator for judging the development direction of China’s new energy vehicle industry. Based on the quantitative data of the new energy vehicle industry in major countries and the qualitative scores given by some experts in 2021，this paper evaluates the competitiveness index of China’s new energy vehicle industry by using the comprehensive index method and analytic hierarchy process. The results show that the relative value of the international competitiveness of China’s new energy vehicle industry has increased from 62 in 2012 to 97 in 2021；China’s ranking has also improved from the fifth in 2012 to the second in 2021，while the level of competitiveness has been steadily improving year by year.
