The Internet of Things(IOT)provides new ways for the preservation and exhibition of cultural heritage,which will improve significantly the technologies in this field and thus the capacity to serve the public.This article first analyzes the challenges and issues in the cultural heritage preservation,and discusses the great demand for the development and applications of IOT.Then,we focus on the design and applications of sensor networks and RFID in the four areas,which are the relic protection and exhibition in museum,monitoring and protection in archaeological excavation,historical relic management,and visitor management.Due to the nature of historical relic excavation,preservation,exhibition and management,IOT is very suitable to be utilized in this area and thus is promising to bring a revolution in the traditional cultural heritage preservation. <<
