On the basis of overview of domestic and foreign technology status in geological hazard early warning, the structure, function and characteristics of geological hazard monitoring and warning system based on the internet of things ( sensor network) was proposed. The geological hazard monitoring system based on internet of things is composed of sensors in the fields, data-collection modular in the fields, data transmit modular (wireless or cable), data processing modular and information releasing system in the geological monitoring center. It has the function of monitoring, transmitting, processing and utilizing. This system has the characteristics of intelligent, large-scale, standardized and real-time, high-reliability and high-safety. Finally, we put forward the development strategies of geological hazard monitoring and warning system based on internet of things (sensor network) in China.
