Ecological culture is an important part of urban soft power. The construction of global cities shapes corresponding urban ecological culture and leads the development trend of global ecological culture. Analysis of the development process and shaping methods of global urban ecological culture has many references for Shanghai’s ecological culture construction and the improvement of urban soft power. Based on the typical cases of four global cities including New York，London，Paris，and Tokyo，this report extracts the experience of global urban ecological culture construction from five perspectives：planning and design，policy guarantee，behavior cultivation，material culture，and governance pattern. On this basis，further aiming at the shortcomings of Shanghai’s ecological culture construction，the paper proposes suggestions for improving Shanghai’s ecological culture construction from six aspects：optimizing ecological space layout，improving policy and institutional system，inheriting ecological cultural concepts，expanding public participation channels，developing ecological cultural education projects，and enhancing systematic thinking ability.
