2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the SCO. As a comprehensive regional international organization initiated by China after the Cold War，the establishment of the SCO is not only a major event in Eurasia this century，but also an important initiative of China’s diplomacy since the reform and opening-up. Over the past 20 years，the development of the SCO has undergone a process of continuous innovation and continuous improvement. Around this new issue，chinese academic circles have also carried out relevant academic and policy research in different disciplines. In the same way as the establishment，consolidation and development of this new type of international organization，China’s research on the SCO has also gone through the process of from scratch，gradually plump and gradually becoming a system. In this process，a large number of research results have been produced，including the policy actions that have been translated into the development of the SCO. Moreover，while enriching China’s post-Cold War foreign policy think tank，this process has also created academic research teams in different disciplines，fields and directions. Reviewing and combing through this process，summarizing the major achievements that have been made，and finding that the ideological space still needs to be enriched and the weak links that are not satisfactory are undoubtedly of great academic and practical significance to this promising research field.
