With the rapid development of new technologies such as sensor networks，big data，and machine learning，traditional geoinformation science education with the basic knowledge framework of geographic science，surveying and mapping methods，information technology and application field education is facing a new turning point. On the one hand，the classic knowledge structure has its characteristics of stability and continuity. On the other hand，new theoretical frameworks and technical systems are surging in，which urgently needs to be incorporated into modern geoinformation science and engineering education. This article illustrated some of the author’s thoughts on how geoinformation education，which is at a point of change，faces the arrival of the intelligent age.
