The present states of of surveying & mapping and geoinformation talents were summarized and analyzed. The cultivation condition of professional talents skilled talents and enterprise management talents were summarized. The existing problems and their causes of talents cultivation were analyzed. The new demands on surveying & mapping and geoinformation talents in the new era，such as the self-reliance of science and technology，natural resources management，the development of the digital economy，，and the enhancement of China’s global governance system capabilities were studied. Finally，some relevant policy recommendations for strengthening the cultivation of surveying & mapping and geoinformation talents in the new era were put forward.
