The paper takes the knowledge production perspective，and with some content analysis on 254 COVID-19 data journalism works，we try to figure out if data-driven stories produces more indepth sort of knowledge than traditional journalism works. To testify the hypothesis，the paper focus on questioning data journalism’s knowledge characteristics，production constraints and social function. Our study finally finds out that data journalism makes breakthroughs in knowledge，comparing with traditional journalism works，but still within limits.
