Since the 1980s，the Economic Community of West African States has established a regional cooperation and coordination mechanism in medical and health cooperation，and has achieved many results in responding to infectious diseases such as malaria and Ebola and improving professional training systems. However，because of the characteristics of the economic and social development of West Africa，ECOWAS still needs international cooperation to deepen regional health cooperation and improve people’s medical health. China has a long history of health cooperation with West African countries. Under the background of the coronavirus pandemic，we are further strengthening cooperation with multilateral institutions such as the West African Health Organization in order to give full play to the role of medical and health cooperation in the win-win cooperation between China and Africa.
