Climate change has become one of the most important environmental issues in the world. As the largest developing country in the world,China is working hard to achieve the dual carbon goal of emission peak and carbon neutrality by promoting a low-carbon economy and participating in the response to climate change in the context of global warming. This article analyzes the international trends and domestic development of carbon emission policies in recent years and summarizes the path for China to achieve emission peak and carbon neutrality(e.g.,adhering to energy conservation and emission reduction strategies, developing a green and low-carbon economy, increasing carbon sequestration, and carbon sinks, accelerate the development of carbon capture and storage technologies),enumerating the existing measures to achieve emission peak and carbon neutrality in China(e.g.,energy structure adjustment, industrial optimization and upgrading,low-carbon city pilots, circular economy and low-carbon technology, carbon emissions trading markets, afforestation and carbon sinks),and focused on examples of the role of biomass in achieving emission peak and carbon neutral development strategies(e.g.,biomass energy instead of fossil energy, and biomass materials instead of chemical products). Based on the above discussion and analysis, combined with the country’s dual-carbon strategy at this stage, this article puts forward policy recommendations for emission peak, carbon neutrality, and total control to reduce emissions.
