Using the secondary information published in government reports，industry reports，and media，this research describes the impacts of COVID-19 on Macao’s tourism industry and elaborates on a basket of policies and initiatives implemented by Macao SAR government for controlling the epidemic and reviving the economy，as well as the joint efforts made by Macao Government Tourism Office （MGTO）. On this basis，this research summarizes Macau’s experience in preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 epidemic and restoring its severely affected tourism industry：First，Macao has adopted strict epidemic prevention and control measures. Although these measures have hit the tourism industry，they have helped protect the local economy and market. At the same time，this is vital to the revitalization of the local economy. Second，by maintaining the vitality of the local economy，Macau can implement corresponding strategies to support tourism and the local economy. Third，Macau has maintained continuous contact and communication with its traditional and main source markets，the mainland market，especially its neighboring cities in GBA. Finally，we must quickly and decisively roll out adequate financial and economic assistance programs to maintain local economic activity and consumption. These experiences can provide some reference for tourism policy makers and tourism management.
