Marine folklore have been developing steadily in 2020，and presents four new trends：the study of marine folklore focus on the multi carrier and realistic care of folklore；the regional development tends to be balanced，and the development of marine folklore around the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea is outstanding；the protection and inheritance methods of marine folklore culture continue to innovate；the value of marine folklore participating in rural governance attracted more attention. However，there are also some problems in the research of marine folklore，more weight is put on “case description”，otherwise “comprehensive refinement”，and not realizing the transformation from “vulgarity” to “people”；there are also some problems in the development practice of marine folklore，such as homogenization，vulgarization，and insufficient excavation of cultural connotation，which need to be solved one by one in the future development. In the future，the development of marine folklore must adhere to the guidance of major marine policies，optimize the practice of marine folklore in rural governance，strengthen the construction of marine folklore research talent team and platform，pay attention to the cultivation of inheritors，accelerate the digital development in technology，and strengthen regional integration.
