Since the mid-1980s，Europe has begun to study and improve road facilities to improve service levels，observe and study the development status of European intelligent transportation field，and realize the cooperation of China and European Union on this basis，which provides reference and opportunities for the development of China’s intelligent transportation industry. Taking Denmark，Germany，France，Holland，England，Sweden and other representative European countries as the object，focusing on road transportation，combined with the fields of subway，railway，water transportation and civil aviation，this paper summarizes the current development characteristics of Europe in the fields of green intelligent transportation，internet connection and autonomous driving，intelligent auto logistics system，efficient urban operation，road safety guarantee，digital infrastructure，sharing transportation and so on. By analyzing the key areas of common concern for the development of intelligent transportation between China and the EU，and the suggestions on the cooperative development plan，it provides a reference basis for formulating the cooperation plan in the field of intelligent transportation between China and the EU in the next stage.
