The development of expressway intelligent industry started relatively late in China，and has gone through three stages of development. At present，it has entered the sustained growth stage which is highly concerned by the industry. Starting from the definition of expressway intelligent industry and combining with many data statistics，this paper objectively analyzes the industrial development environment，industrial scale，industrial competitiveness，and regional development characteristics of expressway，and summarizes some problems existing in the industrial chain，market environment and compound talents. And put forward the future industrial development in the industrial structure，research and development investment，talent technology competition mechanism，specific implementation path of the relevant needs.
