The foundation of rural residential environment improvement in the Yellow River Basin is relatively weak and there are many historical problems. the rural living environment in the Yellow River Basin has made remarkable progress，established and perfected the problem-oriented rural living environment governance system，constructed the party committee leadership to build a common governance and sharing of rural living environment governance pattern. It has initially formed five rural environment remediation models：industry-based and old-style model；characteristics-based，repairment and protection model，piecemeal and remote reconstruction model，dirty and messy management，standard model，clean and upgrade model，etc. It is suggested that in the further improvement of rural living environment，we should adhere to the guidance of party building and better play the role of the battle fortress of the rural grass-roots party organization，implement plan first and formulate the planning system of rural living environment according to local conditions，innovate the mechanism and explore the formation of a governance mechanism in which the government promotes the participation of the whole society，and provide flexible rural land supply and financial security.
