The UK film industry during 2020-2021 was severely hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020，the UK box office and cinema admission fell sharply. Fortunately，the box office shares of the UK films（46%）and the UK independent films（14%）were the second highest in the 21st century. However，the UK films’ global box office share dropped to 9%. The Top 20 Films continued to be dominated by Hollywood movies as well as UK-US co-productions. The number of films produced and the total UK production expenditure were lower than in previous years. British film talents won a high percentage（20%）of key international awards. The UK box office and cinema admission in the first half of 2021 were further damaged by cinema closure，though production expenditure enjoyed considerable rise. 1917 and Tenet became box office hits，and The Father and Promising Young Woman were honoured with artistic awards.
