Urban economic management is an organic part of urban management system and the whole national economic management system，and it is one of the important tasks of urban government management. This report constructs the evaluation index system of urban economic management level，including the level of economic development，the level of economic regulation，the level of market supervision and the level of basic government financial resources. The economic management level of 36 key cities is comprehensively evaluated and ranked. The results show that the economic management level of 36 key cities in China in 2018 has obvious gradient distribution，showing the characteristics of strong east and weak west，high south and low north，and rising central China. Finally，the report proposes to clarify the two relations，consolidate the two foundations and strengthen the four functions of three aspects to improve the level of urban economic management.
